Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1577 thaler Dav-9063
This specimen was lot 5015 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,680 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Julius, 1568-1589. Reichstaler 1577, Goslar. Lichttaler. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Slg. Anders Christensen, Auktion Tietjen + Co. 47, Hamburg 1984, Nr. 1070. (duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Julius, 1568-89, "light" thaler of 1577, Goslar mint. Handsome patina, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1577-82 and is rather expensive. A very similar thaler, Dav-9062, shows the wild man walking left.
