Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle 1646-LW thaler Dav-6497
This specimen was lot 5600 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €650 (about US$905 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, FÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich, 1636-1648. Reichstaler 1646, Clausthal. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Lanz 113, München 2002, Nr. 415. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle, Frederick, 1636-48, thaler of 1646, Clausthal mint. Extremely fine.)"
This type, which is fairly common, is listed for 1644-47. The duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle fell extinct in 1705 and passed to Hannover.
