This specimen was lot 1276 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $411. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle. Taler, 1644-LW. PCGS EF-45 Secure Holder. Friedrich V (1636-48). Toned." This type was struck 1644-47 and is common. The Duchy of Brunswick was divided and subdivided in the seventeenth century but was eventually reassembled as the Kingdom of Hannover before being absorbed into Prussia in 1866.
