This specimen was lot 972 in Jean Elsen price list 259 (Brussels, January-March 2012), where it was offered at € 325. The catalog noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, BRUNSWICK-LÜNEBURG-CELLE, Friedrich (1636-1648), AR 1/8 Taler, 1646 LW, Clausthal. Droit : B. cuirassé à droite. Revers: Ecu échancré sous une couronne. Rare. Très Beau (Duchy of BRUNSWICK-LÜNEBURG-CELLE, Friedrich (1636-1648), silver eighth thaler of 1646, Clausthal mint. Obverse: armored bust to right. Reverse: crowned arms. Rare, VF)"
Brunswick was divided and subdivided in the seventeenth century but was eventually reassembled as the Kingdom of Hannover before being absorbed into Prussia in 1866. This type is listed under Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle and is recorded for 1645-48.
