Künker sale 293, lot 660

This specimen was lot 660 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €340 (about US$458 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, HERZOGTUM Johann Friedrich, 1665-1679. 2/3 Taler 1678, Clausthal. Ausbeute der Grube St. Andreas. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg, John Frederick, 1665-79, two-thirds thaler of 1678, Clausthal mint, for the St. Andrew mine. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

These two-thirds thalers (or gulden) are often more available than the larger thalers.
