British West Africa 1936 penny KM-16

British West Africa comprised Gambia, Sierra Leone, Gold Coast (now Ghana) and Nigeria. The union broke up in the late fifties as the parts were granted independence. Copper-nickel pennies were issued for the region starting in 1907. This type was issued 1936 only and is one of the few issues bearing the name of the short-reigned king Edward VIII.
