British West Africa 1939-KN 2 shillings

British West Africa comprised Gambia, Sierra Leone, Gold Coast (now Ghana) and Nigeria. The union broke up in the late fifties as the parts were granted independence. Two shilling pieces were issued for the region starting in 1913. This type was issued 1938-1947, and this specimen was struck at the King's Norton Mint (KN).

Recorded mintage: 6,250,000.

Specification: 11.37 g, nickel-brass, 28.51 mm diameter.
