This specimen was lot 23210 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $16,450. The catalog description[1] noted, "João V gold 3200 Reis 1727-R, F15 NGC. An original, problem free 3200 Reis (or Meia-Peca) of João V is difficult to come to the market. There has been three or four 1749's over the last 5 years but not any other dates from the Rio mint. Strong date and mint mark. Rare. From The RLM Collection." This type was struck at the Minas Gerais mint 1727-33 and at Bahia 1727-50 and at Rio 1727-49. This is the commonest of the three mints but is still rare.
