This specimen was lot 23296 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $55,812.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "João V gold 3200 Reis 1727-M, VF Details NGC (removed from jewelry), slightly burnished surfaces with a few tiny digs in the right obverse field, an extremely rare date listed as unique by the SCWC. Quite attractive despite the jewelry damage and a classic rarity in the Brazilian series." This type was struck at the Minas Gerais mint 1727-33 and at Bahia 1727-50 and at Rio 1727-49.
