This specimen was lot 23274 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $4,406.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "João V gold 12800 Reis 1727-M, F15 NGC. Heavily worn but with strong date, mint mark and legends. Reverse is about VF. Scarce first year of issue." This type was struck in Minas Gerais 1727-33, in Rio 1727-31 and Bahia 1727-30. Tho it is always expensive, it is not rare.
