This specimen was lot 1074 in Jean Elsen sale 163 (Brussels, November 2025), where it sold for €80 (about US$93 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Philippe IV (1621-1665), AR patagon, 1623, Anvers. D/ Croix de Bourgogne sous une couronne, portant le bijou de la Toison d'or. R/ Écu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Frappe faible. Sur flan large. (duchy of Brabant, Philip IV, 1621-65, silver patagon of 1623, Antwerp mint. Obverse: Burgundian cross under a crown, supported the jewels of the Golden Fleece; reverse: crowned arms, Order chain around. Weakly struck on a large planchet, Very Fine.)

One patagon was 48 sols, stuivers or patards. It was roughly equal to a leeuvendaalder but had about 18% more silver. Patagons are notoriously badly struck. Double and triple patagons exist for 1623.

Specification: 28.10 g, 0.875 fine silver, 23 mm diameter, this specimen 28,02 g.
