The third specimen was lot 27 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 550 CHF (about US$838 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[3] noted,

"BELGIEN Brabant, Herzogtum, Albert und Isabella, 1598-1621. Patagon o. J. (1612-1621), Antwerpen. Sehr selten. Vorzügliches Exemplar für diesen Typ. Etwas Grünspan und kleiner Schrötlingsfehler. (duchy of Brabant, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, undated patagon, circa 1612-21, Antwerp mint. Very rare, Extremely Fine specimen for this type, Some verdigris and minor flan flaws.)"

Patagons were issued in the Spanish Netherlands and associated states (including the bishopric of Liège and Franche Comte) during the seventeenth century, where they competed with French écus, German talers and Dutch daalders and ducatons. The type shown here was struck at the Antwerp, Bois-le-Duc, Maastricht and Brussels 1612, 1616-21 and ND. A very similar coin was struck for Flanders (Dav-4434), Luxembourg and Tournai (Dav-4438). The SCWC notes the Flemish issues as the most common, followed by the Brabant issue, tho none are plentiful today. The series is plagued by bad planchets and poor strikes, reducing their appeal to collectors.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.10 g, 0.875 fine silver, the first specimen 27,85 g, the second specimen 28,00 g, the third specimen 27.68 g.
