This specimen was lot 1278 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,881 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Albert et Isabelle (1598-1621), AR patagon, 1617, Bois-le-Duc ('s Hertogenbosch). 2152 p. frappées du 22 mai 1616 au 30 avril 1618. D/ Croix de Bourgogne sous une couronne, portant le bijou de la Toison d'or. R/ Ecu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Très rare. Sur flan large, les légendes complètes et le différent d'atelier bien gravé. (duchy of Brabant, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, patagon of 1617, Bois-le-Duc mint, 2,152 pieces struck. Obverse: Burgundian cross under a crown, supporting the jewel of the Golden Fleece; reverse: crowned arms, order chain around. Very rare, struck on a large planchet with the legends complete and a strong mintmark. Very Fine.)"

One patagon was 48 sols, stuivers or patards. It was roughly equal to a leeuvendaalder but had about 18% more silver. Patagons are notoriously badly struck. Bois-le-Duc or 's Hertogenbosch used a tree mintmark.

Recorded mintage: 2,152.

Specification: 28.10 g, 0.875 fine silver, this specimen 27,90 g.
