Künker Auction 441, lot 4825

This specimen was lot 4825 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €380 (about US$523 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Karl VI., 1711-1740. 1/2 Reichstaler 1718, Kuttenberg. Münzmeister Johann Franz Weyer. R Winz. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön-vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, half thaler of 1718, Kuttenberg mint. Rare, minor planchet defects, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This half thaler was struck 1717-26. It is one of the last products of this mint before it was closed in 1727 when the ore gave out.
