Künker sale 400, lot 371

This specimen was lot 371 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €6,000 (about US$7,784 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Karl VI. 1711-1740. Reichstaler 1718, Prag. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 62 (6862143-006). Äußerst selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Herrliche Patina, min. Schrötlingsfehler, fast Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, thaler of 1718, Prague mint. Graded NGC MS62, extremely rare in this quailty, superb patina, minor planchet defects, about uncirculated.)"

In 1718, the Prague mint struck two very similar thalers, Dav-1075 (large bust) and Dav-1076 (shown here). The Dav-1075 has a higher catalog value.
