Bohemia 1717 thaler Dav-1072
This specimen was lot 1932 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,965 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Karl VI., 1711-1740. Reichstaler 1717, Prag. Münzmeister Ferdinand Scharff. RR Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 387, Osnabrück 2023, Nr. 808 und der Auktion H. D. Rauch 118, Wien 2024, Nr. 836. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, thaler of 1717, Prague mint. Very rare, attractive example with fine patina, about extremely fine.)"
The Prague mint struck thalers for Charles VI in several varieties in 1717, including KM 1497/Dav-1071 (the only one not very rare), KM 1498.1/Dav-1072 (shown here), KM 1498.2/Dav-1073 and KM 1499/Dav-1074 (for the mines).
