Sincona sale 98, lot 4019

This specimen was lot 4019 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$363 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1623, Basel. Sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, thaler of 1623, Basel mint. Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1622-24, 1638-39 and is the only thaler of the period which is affordable.

Recorded mintage: unknown but the most common date.

Specification: 11.83 g, silver, 33 mm diameter, this specimen 28.09 g.
