Sincona sale 91, lot 3059

This specimen was lot 3059 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$430 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1624, Basel. Rv. Einköpfiger Adler nach rechts. Selten. Sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, thaler of 1624, Basel mint. Reverse: single headed eagle facing right. Rare, Very fine.)"

The city issued two different thalers in 1624: KM 79.2/Dav-4605 (eagle facing right, shown here) and KM 84/Dav-4604 (eagle facing left).
