Sincona sale 73, lot 4071

This specimen was lot 4071 in Sincona sale 73 (Zürich, November 2021), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$1,029 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Basel | Stadt und Kanton. Taler 1638, Basel. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. Kleiner Randfehler. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, thaler of 1638, Basel mint. Rare, Good very fine, Minor edge flaw.)"

The SCWC notes this type for 1623-24 and 1638-39; the latter two dates are rare.
