Sincona sale 91, lot 3060

This specimen was lot 3060 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,586 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Halbtaler 1638, Basel. Selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, half thaler of 1638, Basel mint. Rare, Very fine-extremely fine, Attractively toned.)"

This type was struck 1623-24, 1638-39 and accompanied a thaler (Dav-4604).
