Sincona sale 97, lot 3032

This specimen was lot 3032 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$ including buyers' fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Doppelassis 1623, Basel. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Switzerland, city and canton of Basel, Rare in this condition, Very Fine-Extremely Fine.)"

The SCWC lists this type for 1623, 1624, 1634, 1638 and undated. It also occurs in klippe format (KM 74a). The double assis was 1/20 of a thaler.

Specification: 3.15 g, billon, 25 mm diameter, this specimen 3.38 g.
