Sincona sale 39, lot 4205

This specimen was lot 4205 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$184 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUSTRIA, Ferdinand I. 1835-1848 Halbtaler 1847 A. Wien. Gutes vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, half thaler of 1847, Vienna mint. Good extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1837-48 at Vienna. The half thaler's weight was reduced from 14.036 g to 12.99 g in 1852.

Recorded mintage: unknown but slightly scarce.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 13.98 g.
