Sincona sale 69, lot 1087

This specimen was lot 1087 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$266 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"OSTERREICH, Ferdinand I. 1835-1848. 1/2 Taler 1844 A, Wien. Fast vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, half thaler of 1844, Vienna mint. About extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1837-48 at Vienna. The half thaler's weight was reduced from 14.036 g to 12.99 g in 1852.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 14.00 g.
