Sincona sale 101, lot 3334

This specimen was lot 3334 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,562 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Ferdinand I. 1835-1848. 1/2 Konventionstaler 1836 A, Wien. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Fast FDC. Herrliche Patina. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, half convention thaler of 1836, Vienna mint. Rare, especially in this condition, About Mint State, Most attractively toned.)"

This type of 1835-36 is so rare as to be a pattern. Half thalers of Francis I also exist and are much more available.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 14.03 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 14.05 g.
