Sincona sale 34, lot 4505

This specimen was lot 4505 in Sincona sale 34 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUSTRIA. Ferdinand I. 1835-1848 Taler 1836. Wien Variante mit verändertem Kopfbild. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. Fein getönt. (Empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, thaler of 1836, Vienna mint, variety with modified bust. Very rare, Good very fine, finely toned.)"

This type was struck 1835-36 only and is slightly scarce. Thalers were struck to this standard until 1856 then replaced by a smaller coin struck 1857-68.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, .7514 troy oz ASW, this specimen 27.89 g.
