Austria 1837-M thaler Dav-14
This specimen was lot 1955 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €420 (about US$595 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Ferdinand I., 1835-1848. Konv.-Taler 1837 M, Mailand. R Kl. Kratzer, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, convention thaler of 1837, Milan mint. Rare, hairlines, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck at Milan (shown here) 1837-38 and at Vienna 1837-48. The Milan product is scarce while the Vienna issue is common. Thalers were struck to this weight standard until 1852.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce date.
