Austria 1835-A 1/2 thaler KM-2224
This specimen was lot 1677 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €6,500 (about US$8,761 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Ferdinand I. 1835-1848. 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1835, A, Wien. Äußerst selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz aus polierter Platte. (Empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, half convention thaler of 1835, Vienna mint. Very scarce, especially in this quality, proof example. About uncirculated on polished blank.)"
This type of 1835-36 is so rare as to be a pattern. Half thalers of Francis I also exist and are much more available.
