This specimen was lot 25950 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $2,173.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Joseph II gold 2 Ducat 1787-E, Karlsburg Mint, MS62 NGC. Flashy surfaces are present beneath handling marks appropriate to the grade." Friedberg lists this under Hungary as it was struck there but the SCWC catalogs this under Austria as it was identical to the Vienna mint issue. The type is noted for 1783-87.

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, .221 troy oz AGW.
