The first specimen was lot 1642 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,897 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Josef II. 1765-1790. 1/2 Souverain d'or 1787, F, Hall, für die Niederlande. GOLD. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, half souverain d'or of 1787, Hall mint, for the Netherlands. Scarce in this quality, choice, uncirculated.)"

This type is filed under the Austrian Netherlands, an area which is now Belgium and Luxembourg. Besides Hall, similar coins are known from Vienna and Brussels. The type was struck 1786-90 and previous souverains d'or date back to the reign of Maria Theresa. The second specimen was lot 2939 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 950 CHF (about US$1,279 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Joseph II. 1765-1790. 1/2 Souverain d'or 1787 F, Hall. Prägung für die Niederlande. NGC MS63. Kleine Randfehler. Das durch NGC zweithöchstbewertete Exemplar. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, half souverain d'or of 1787, Hall mint, struck for the Netherlands. Minor edge flaws, Second finest certified by NGC.)"

The third specimen was lot 204 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,204 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[3] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Joseph II., 1765-1790. 1/2 Sovrano 1786 F, Hall, für die Niederlande. Büste r. mit Lorbeerkranz, darunter die Münzstättensignatur F//Gekröntes Wappen der Österreichischen Niederlande, umher die Kette des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies, dahinter Andreaskreuz. GOLD. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Gerhard Hirsch 136, München 1983, Nr. 543. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, gold half sovereign of 1786, Hall mint, struck for the Netherlands. Obverse: laureate bust right, mintmark below; reverse: crowned arms of the Austrian Netherlands, order chain around, over a St. Andrews cross. Extremely fine.)"
