Sincona sale 94, lot 2251

This specimen was lot 2251 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 475 CHF (about US$658 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Joseph II. 1765-1790. Dukat 1787 B, Kremnitz. Sehr schön. Winzige Fassungsspuren. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, ducat of 1787, Kremnitz mint. Very Fine, Tiny traces of mounting.)"

Altho Friedberg lists this under Hungary, we have followed the SCWC and filed it under Austria. This ducat was struck 1780-90 at multiple mints (Vienna, Kremnitz, Karlsburg, Hall and Nagybanya).

Recorded mintage: 220,000.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.48 g.
