This specimen was lot 836 in Jean Elsen sale 121 (Brussels, June 2014), where it sold for €3,600 (about US$5,766 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRABANT, Duché, Joseph II (1780-1790), AV double souverain, 1785, Bruxelles. Seulement 3,946 frappées. Droit: Tête laurée à droite. Revers: Ecu ovale couronné, sur une croix de Bourgogne, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Très Rare. Fines traces d'ajustage. presque Superbe. (duchy of Brabant, Joseph II (1780-90), gold double souverain of 1785, Brussels mint. Only 3,946 pieces struck. Obverse: laureate head to right; reverse: crowned oval arms over a Burgundian cross, Order of the Golden Fleece around. Very rare, fine adjustment marks, about extremely fine.)"
This type is filed under the Austrian Netherlands, an area which is now Belgium and Luxembourg. Besides Brussels, similar coins are known from Vienna, Günzburg, Kremnitz, Milan and Hall. The type was struck 1781-89 and previous souverains d'or date back to the reign of Maria Theresa.
