Austrian Netherlands 1780-IC FA souverain d'or Fr-420
This specimen was lot 2911 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$2,913 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. 2 Souverain d'or 1780, Wien. Für die Niederlande. Mit den Signaturen IC-FA (Johann August von Cronberg, Münzmeister in Wien, und Franz Aicherau, Wardein in Wien, 1774-1780). Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Kleine Henkelspur. (Holy ROman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, double gold souverain of 1780, Vienna mint, struck for the Netherlands, with signature "IC FA". Very fine-extremely fine, Small mount mark.)"
This type with the veiled bust of the empress was struck 1767-80 at Brussels and 1772-74 and 1780 at Vienna. Later souverains d'or were struck for Joseph II all over the Hapsburg empire.
