Austria 1773-E HG 2 ducats Fr-191

from the Stack's Bowers 2018 ANA sale, lot 21580

This specimen was lot 21580 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "TRANSYLVANIA. 2 Ducats, 1773/2-E H-G. Karlsburg Mint. Joseph II, joint reign with his mother Maria Theresa (1765-80). NGC MS-61. Considerable mint bloom remains in the fields and the designs are fully sharp. Ex: Princeps Collection." Like most double ducats, this type listed for 1768-77, is scarce. Altho Friedberg lists this under Hungary, we have followed the SCWC and filed it under Austria.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, .221 troy oz AGW.
