Hungary 1765-KB 2 ducats Fr-179
The first specimen was lot 25222 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $1,703.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Maria Theresia gold 2 Ducat 1765-KB, Kremnitz mint, MS62 NGC. A glowing example with light handling in the fields and minor cabinet friction." The second specimen was lot 3634 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,379 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780 Doppeldukat 1765. Kremnitz. Gutes sehr schön (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, double ducat of 1765, Kremnitz mint, good very fine.)"
This type was struck for the redoubtable Maria Theresia 1763-65 and is common for the denomination.
