Künker Auction 439, lot 2289

This specimen was lot 2289 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €5,000 (about US$6,879 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Karl VI., 1711-1740. Dukat 1713, Wien. GOLD. Seltener Jahrgang. Winz. Kratzer, vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. Erworben 1966 von der Bank Leu AG, Zürich. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, ducat of 1713, Vienna mint. Rare date, light hairlines, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1713-21, 1726-31 and 1735-40 and is common for a ducat of the period. Numista states the later dates are substantially different from the early dates, such as the one shown here.
