Künker Auction 439, lot 2281

This specimen was lot 2281 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,101 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold I., 1657-1705. 1/4 Dukat 1694, Wien. GOLD. R Fassungsspuren, fast vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold I, 1657-1705, quarter ducat of 1694, Vienna mint. Rare, mount broken off, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1694 only. The double "MM" mintmark is for engraver Matthias Mittermayer.
