Sincona sale 66, lot 1791

This specimen was lot 1791 in Sincona sale 66 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 8,500 CHF (about US$11,190 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HEILIGES ROMISCH REICH, Leopold I. 1657-1705. 1/4 Dukat 1692 KB, Kremnitz. Goldabschlag vom Denar. Äusserst selten. Fast FDC. Leicht gewellt. (Austria, Leopold I, 1657-1705, one quarter ducat of 1692, Kremnitz mint, struck using denar dies. Extremely rare, About uncirculated, Slightly wavy flan.)"

This type is not listed in the SCWC. Hungary in the 1680's was in the process of being "liberated" from the Turks by the Austrians.
