This specimen was lot 3018 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,123 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Aargau, 5 Batzen 1809, Aarau. Schräg geriffelter Rand. Selten. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Aargau, five batzen of 1809, Aarau mint, obliquely reeded edge. Rare, About extremely fine.)"
This five batzen was struck in 1808-10. All three dates are priced the same. No coinage for Aargau exists prior to 1798, when it was admitted as a canton to the confederation.
Recorded mintage: 84,000.
