Sincona sale 43, lot 4107

This specimen was lot 4107 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$328 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND, Kanton Aargau, 5 Batzen 1810. Vorzüglich-FDC. Attraktive Erhaltung. (canton of Aargau, five batzen of 1810. Extremely fine-uncirculated, attractive condition.)"

The canton of Aargau issued a variety of coins during 1808-31, ranging from billon one rappen to a silver four franken of 1812. This type was issued 1808-10. Forty batzen = four franken = one thaler and ten rappen = one batzen.

Recorded mintage: 131,000.
