Sincona sale 68, lot 5016

This specimen was lot 5016 in Sincona sale 68 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 180 CHF (about US$237 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Aargau | Kanton, Batzen 1810, Aarau. Vorzüglich. (canton of Aargau, batzen of 1810, Aarau mint. Extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1807-11 and 1816 and is fairly available in circulated condition. Ten rappen made a batzen and forty batzen made a thaler.

Recorded mintage: 215,000.

Specification: 2.5 g, billon, 24 mm diameter.
