Aargau 1808 5 batzen KM-13.1
This specimen was lot 3010 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$330 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Aargau, 5 Batzen 1808, Aarau. Variante mit Palm- und Lorbeerzweig. Schräg geriffelter Rand. Vorzüglich-fast FDC. Exemplar der Auktion Lugdunum 22, Zürich, Dezember 2022, Los 19. (Switzerland, canton of Aargau, five batzen of 1808, Aarau mint, variety with one palm branch and one laurel branch, obliquely reeded edge. Extremely fine-about uncirculated.)"
This five batzen was struck in 1808-10; the three dates are priced the same. Another five batzen exists with laurel branches only (KM 10). No coinage for Aargau exists prior to 1798, when it was admitted as a canton to the confederation.
