Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3080

This specimen was lot 3080 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY: Federal Republic, 2 deutsche mark, Stuttgart, 1951-F, a fantastic proof quality example, from a low mintage of only 150 pieces, rare, PCGS graded Proof 66 CAM, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck 1951 only and is comparatively scarce; the proofs are rare. When production of this denomination resumed in 1957, the coin featured a bust of physicist Max Planck.

Recorded mintage: 22,609,000 plus 150 proofs.

Specification: 7 g, copper-nickel, 26.75 mm diameter.
