Steve Album Auction 53, lot 3070

This specimen was lot 3070 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY: Federal Republic, AE pfennig, 1950-F, a superb proof quality example! PCGS graded Proof 65 RD CAM, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was produced at four mints (Munich, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Hamburg) in 1950 in such numbers that no more were struck until 1966. The Stuttgart mintmark was "F". The last issue for circulation was in 1996 and the type was retired in 2002 with the coming of the euro.

Recorded mintage: 898,277,000 plus 620 proofs.

Specification: 2 g, copper plated steel, 16.5 mm diameter.
