Sincona sale 102, lot 5647

This specimen was lot 5647 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 537 CHF (about US$809 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Zürich. Stadt und Kanton. Vierteldukat 1720, Zürich. Selten. Leicht gewellt. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Zürich, quarter ducat of 1720, Zürich mint. Rare, Slightly wavy flan, About Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1718-67 along with a half (Fr-488a), single (Fr-486a) and double ducat (Fr-485a). Overdates are common. In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
