Sincona sale 12, lot 597

This specimen was lot 597 in Sincona sale 12 (Zürich, October 2013), where it sold for 1,700 CHF (about US$2,199 including buyer's fees). The type was struck 1839-47 at Suzun and Ekaterinburg (shown here). The reverse legend, "❁ 1 ❁/КОПѢЙКА/СЕРЕБРОМЪ", means "one kopek silver." The SCWC reports a weight of 4 g for this issue, manifestly too low.

Recorded mintage: 20,778,000.

Specification: 10.24 g, copper, 27 mm diameter.
