Goldberg NY International sale 59, lot 2143
GNY23-2143r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2143 in Goldberg's NY International sale 59 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "1 Kopeck 1837 ЕМ-НА. Authenticated and graded by NGC AU 55 BN (# 4231716-005). About uncirculated." This type was struck 1831-38 in substantial numbers and is common. The two mintmasters for 1837 are priced the same. The SCWC reports a weight of 4 g for this issue, manifestly too low.

Recorded mintage: 4,890,000 (mintmasters HA and ФХ).

Specification: 10.24 g, copper, 27 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM C138.1, Bit 528, B 93.
