Sincona sale 97, lot 1179

This specimen was lot 1179 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zurich, May 2025), where it sold for 140 CHF (US$203 including buyers' fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "CHINA Volksrepublik. 5 Yuan 1997, Shenyang Mint. Panda. Grosse Jahreszahl. FDC. (Peoples Republic of China, five yuan of 1997, Shenyang mint, panda series, Large date, Mint State.)" Other five yuan for 1997 included KM 980, 981, KM 985, 993, 995, 1005, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1030, 1057, KM 1058, 1058a, 1067, 1068, 1069, 1070, 1071, 1103, 1104, 1105, 1106, P28 and P30. China's deluge of NCLT's was in full spate in 1997.
