This specimen was lot 2958 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $53.55. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA (PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC): AR 10 yuan, 1997, Eastern unicorn // Western unicorn, prooflike, Choice Unc." This unicorn series of silver bullion coins, designed to appeal to western and eastern buyers, ran for a number of years but never took off the way the pandas did.

Recorded mintage: 8,000 proofs + an unknown number in uncirculated + 5,000 in gold.

Specification: 31.1 g, 0.999 fine silver.
