Denmark 1684-GS krone Dav-3638

from the Stack's Bowers February 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 10282

This specimen was lot 10282 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €288 (about US$300). The catalog description^[1] noted, "DENMARK. Krone, 1684-GS. Copenhagen Mint. Christian V. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1684-85, all with initials "GS"; varieties exist in the size of the shield and the punctuation after "IUSTITIA". Christian V was king of Denmark and duke of Schleswig-Holstein. Two mark was half a krone or one-third speciedaler.
