Denmark 1686-GS krone Dav-3639
The first specimen was lot 22314 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Krone (4 Mark), 1686-GS. Christian V (1670-99). NGC AU-55. Draped shield. Gray toned with evident luster remaining in the fields. Several planchet inclusion appear over both sides." The second specimen was lot 10284 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €840 (about US$876). The catalog description[2] noted, "DENMARK. Krone, 1686-GS. Copenhagen Mint. Christian V. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1686 and 1689. The two examples shown vary in the width of the monogram and the style of the drapery behind the shield. Also struck in 1689 was Dav-3639A (including varieties KM 386.2, KM 386.4, KM 386.3).
